Signs of the Times

Today Redjeb had his month after follow-up appointment with the heart surgeon, Dr. Tranbaugh, whose first comment was: "I'm really delighted; I'm really delighted."

He said he wanted to know Redjeb's secret and wanted to get a sample of his genes--joking of course (or is he secretly going to clone him). So all is moving uphill toward "normal".

The doctor said the heart is fine, but R has to be careful about the breastbone, which is still healing. The incision scar is fast disappearing, and I wonder in a year if it will even show. Redjeb still can get out of breath walking, particularly uphill, but the doctor said he thinks that is just conditioning and should get better over time as he does more. The fatigue he sometimes feels could be post-surgical recovery, but may even be some of the medications that are to be discontinued in a week, after he sees the cardiologist. So here's a toast....!!!

Dr. Tranbaugh said: "Tell all your friends." Made us laugh. Wonder what he meant by that? Business is off? He thinks you all should get your hearts fixed? Or was he just proud of having done a good, no, a great job?

As a P.S., before we take them down I wanted to show you our signs, to remind Redjeb of what he had to do during his recovery--walk, deep breathing, shower (?), exercise. They are things we probably all should be doing regularly, but I guess we don't need these reminders on the wall forever.   Onward...

One month... congratulations on this first milestone, there will surely be many many more. Surprised? Who did this surgeon think he was dealing with? This is Redjeb!
