Today is Redjeb's birthday.
He was greeted this morning bright and early by Juanita, the woman from the hospital/doctor's office who's to come and take his blood. They do this to check his levels re medication. So far so good. She is a very cheery upbeat person, so in our present insular life we will look forward to her visits.
We tried to have a little celebration this morning for his birthday, but the anesthesia is still in his body and food tastes awful to him. So I froze the 2 little chocolate mousses for a future delayed celebration.
Redjeb is doing well. He has moments of energy, like just now when he made himself an omelet. But then after 15 minutes he can become very tired and need a nap. In a way this is not too unlike his usual way of being, but a bit more extreme.
We do our walks in the hallway. Unfortunately he has not progressed far enough to get outside. Cafes will have to wait. But the weather is supposed to be lousy in the next couple days, so being cozy inside is not so bad.
It is interesting to me how the profession of nursing has progressed. The surgeon & the cardiologist both have nurses on staff who field our questions. They are accessible and really good and knowledgeable. Makes one feel reassured, and they also take care of various matters for him.
He's still not quite ready for visitors or many phone calls, but he is progressing and it shouldn't be too long before he'd like to see some other faces besides mine.

Hi Peggy,
Please wish the birthday boy a great big Happy Birthday for me!
Also, please tell Redjeb that he looks wonderful.
So glad that all is going as expected regarding Redjeb's recovery. Staying in and keeping warm and cozy is definitely the way to go.
Its pretty cold here as well. Do you remember mufflers - women used to use them to keep their hands warm? I have seen lots of them here. Brings back some great old memories.
Take good care.
Love, Donna
